Day of the Dead  ~  A Mexican Tradition

All Saints Day of the Dead  by Stephen Dyer Wells

The BIG DAY at the Panteón in Santiago Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca

Fresh flowers are sold everywhere for 50 cents a bunch.
In the days prior, the tombs are cleaned and whitewashed.
The lovely purple Celosia cost
a premium price $2.00.
Even the simpliest of graves
are well decorated.
A band plays all night for the dead.

The Cathedral in Santiago Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca.

Lavishly decorated and ready for the party.
Two Esquestrians get ready for the parade.

The first night started with a small table.

Then a larger table was brought inside.
Tamales are made
in banana leaf skins.
A 'pavo' turkey is readied for molé.
Mi casa es su casa.
Su burro es muy Cheedo!
